Internationaler "Fair Trial Day" und Verleihung des Ebru Timtik-Preises

Online-Veranstaltung am 14.6.2021 von 15.00 – 17.15 h
 

Ausgehend von einem internationalen Zusammenschluss von Rechtsanwält*innen und ihren Organisationen machen wir hiermit auf eine Initiative aufmerksam, die ab diesem Jahr einen jährlichen »International Fair Trial Day« (IFTD), also einen »Tag für das faire Verfahren« begehen möchte. Unter anderem ist die EDA, in der der RAV Mitglied ist, hieran maßgeblich beteiligt.

 

Namensgeberin des jährlich zu verleihenden Preises ist die Kollegin Ebru Timtik, die im letzten Jahr im Hungerstreik gegen ihre unrechtmäßige Verurteilung in der Türkei in der Haft verstarb.
Das wohlklingende »Faire Verfahren« droht in immer mehr Ländern, auch solchen, die sich selber als Demokratien bezeichnen, zur Worthülse zu verkommen, was erhebliche Menschenrechtsverletzungen für die Betroffenen bedeutet.

 

Zugleich bedeutet dies jedoch auf vielen Seiten der Zivilgesellschaft einen andauernden Kampf für Gerechtigkeit. Daran soll dieser Tag und der zu verleihende Preis mahnen und erinnern.

 

Der Aufruf der Initiator*innen und der Organisationen und Einzelpersonen, die sich inzwischen angeschlossen haben, findet sich hier auf Deutsch und auf Englisch.

 

Am 14.6.2021 wird hierzu von 15- 17.45 Uhr eine Online-Konferenz stattfinden, an der alle zur Teilnahme eingeladen sind.
